As part of my sustainable art practice, I create artwork from my musician husband’s worn and discarded drumheads. For this series, I created unique cyanotypes of buttons, which I then combined and collaged onto my husband’s worn drumheads along with embroidery and mixed media. This series is in honor of my mother-in-law’s sacrifices for my husband’s career as drummer. She is a former seamstress whose quiet, steadfast gestures held her family together across continents.
